PCX
What Is A PCX File?
A PCX file is an older bitmap image format originally used by PC Paintbrush and other legacy graphics software. It was common in older DOS and Windows image workflows, but it is now mostly found in archives, old software projects, and legacy graphics collections. Modern apps and websites rarely ask for PCX, so converting PCX to JPG, PNG, or WebP is usually the easiest way to open, share, or reuse the image.
Best For
Legacy graphics software, older image archives, and historical bitmap image collections.
Watch Out For
PCX is not a modern sharing or web format. Many current apps, upload forms, and platforms do not accept it.
