1. Who we are
ImageConverter.ca is a Canadian image conversion website operated from Ontario, Canada. We provide tools that help users convert, resize, optimize, crop, rotate, adjust, remove metadata from, and otherwise prepare images for websites, documents, social media, apps, and other uses.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, what we do not collect, how we use limited technical information, how third-party services may be involved, and how you can contact us about privacy-related questions.
2. Our privacy-first approach
ImageConverter.ca is designed around a simple privacy principle: image tools should be fast, simple, and respectful of your files.
Where a tool is browser-based, your selected image files are processed locally in your web browser. This means your files do not need to be uploaded to our servers for that browser-based tool to work.
For browser-based tools:
- your images are processed locally in your browser;
- your images are not uploaded to our servers for processing;
- we cannot see your images;
- we do not analyze your images for advertising;
- we do not sell your images;
- we do not use your images to train artificial intelligence models;
- we do not require user accounts for the free image tools;
- we do not collect payment information for the free tools.
If a current or future tool requires server-side processing, cloud processing, file storage, API access, user accounts, or paid functionality, that tool may be subject to additional notices or updated privacy terms.
3. Scope of this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to ImageConverter.ca and the image tools available on this website. It does not apply to third-party websites, advertisements, services, or links that may appear on or be linked from ImageConverter.ca. Those third parties have their own privacy policies and practices.
4. Your images and files
When you choose an image file in one of our tools, your browser may read that file so the selected action can be performed. Depending on the tool, this may include conversion, resizing, compression, cropping, rotation, flipping, metadata removal, format adjustment, or similar image processing functions.
For browser-based tools, the original image and the processed output remain on your device unless you choose to download, save, upload, publish, or share them using your own browser, operating system, or another service.
Because browser-based tools do not send your image files to our servers for processing, we cannot recover, restore, review, access, or delete those files from our servers. If you close your browser tab, clear your browser data, or delete a file from your own device, we cannot retrieve it for you.
5. Image metadata
Some image files contain metadata, such as camera model, timestamps, location information, colour profile information, copyright details, editing history, accessibility information, or other embedded information.
If you use a tool that removes or changes metadata, you are responsible for deciding whether that metadata should be preserved or removed before using the output file.
Removing metadata may improve privacy, but it may also remove information you intended to keep, such as copyright, attribution, colour profile, accessibility, or provenance information.
6. Information we may collect
We try to collect as little information as reasonably possible. The limited information we may collect falls into the categories below.
Server logs
Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure may automatically record standard technical log information when your browser requests a page. This may include your IP address, browser user agent, device type, operating system, referring page, requested pages, date and time of access, and similar diagnostic information.

Third-party advertising providers may use cookies, pixels, device identifiers, or similar technologies to serve ads, measure ad performance, prevent fraud, limit repeated ads, and personalize or contextualize advertising.

Analytics, if used, does not give us access to your image files from browser-based tools because those image files are not uploaded to us for processing.

For browser-based tools, your images are not uploaded to us for processing, so we do not retain original images or processed image outputs on our servers.
Server logs are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for security, debugging, abuse prevention, and operational purposes, then deleted, rotated, or anonymized according to our hosting and maintenance practices.
Contact form messages may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your inquiry, maintain business records, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or comply with legal obligations. You may ask us to delete a contact form message you sent, subject to any legal or security-related need to retain it.
Cookies and browser storage remain on your device according to your browser settings, unless you clear them earlier.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the limited information we handle.
