Our Promise

Simple image converter tools, clear file handling, and a privacy-first approach whenever processing can happen directly in your browser.

Simple tools that respect your files

I built ImageConverter.ca around one simple idea: converting an image should be fast, easy, and respectful of your privacy.

You should not have to create an account, fight through confusing settings, or upload private images unnecessarily just to change a file from one format to another.

Our browser-first promise

Where our tools are browser-based, your selected images are processed locally in your own browser. The website loads the tool, but your browser does the image work on your device.

For browser-based tools, this means:

Why ImageConverter.ca works this way

A lot of online image tools work by uploading your file to a remote server, processing it there, and then sending the finished file back to you. That approach can work, but it also means your image has to leave your device first.

ImageConverter.ca is designed to avoid that whenever possible. For supported browser-based tools and formats, the conversion happens inside your browser instead of being sent away to a server-side processing queue.

The safer design is not simply “trust us not to look.” The safer design is “we do not need to receive the image in the first place.”

How browser-based image conversion works

ImageConverter.ca uses browser-based processing for supported tools. In plain English, that means many image conversion and optimization tasks can run directly on your device without sending your image file to a remote server.

When you use a browser-based converter tool:

  1. Your browser loads the ImageConverter.ca tool page.
  2. You choose or drop an image file into the tool.
  3. Your browser reads the file locally from your device.
  4. The image is converted, resized, optimized, or adjusted inside your browser.
  5. The finished output file is created in your browser.
  6. You download the converted image back to your own device.

For those browser-based tools, the image data is not uploaded to ImageConverter.ca at any step.

The difference at a glance

Feature Typical online image tool ImageConverter.ca browser-based tools
Your image is uploaded Often yes No, for browser-based tools
Copies may sit on a server Often, at least temporarily No, for browser-based tools
Server upload queue Possible No upload queue for browser-based tools
Server upload limits Common No server upload limit for local processing, though your browser and device still have practical limits
Who can see your image The service may receive it Only you, for browser-based tools
Account required Sometimes No account required for the free tools

You can check it yourself

You do not have to take this promise on faith. You can use your browser's developer tools to see what a page sends over the network.

  1. Open one of the ImageConverter.ca tools.
  2. Press F12 to open your browser's developer tools.
  3. Go to the Network tab.
  4. Choose an image and run the tool.
  5. Watch the network requests.

The page may load normal website files, scripts, styles, fonts, ads, analytics, or security resources. Those are separate from your image file. For browser-based tools, your selected image should not be uploaded to ImageConverter.ca for processing.

What this means for you

More privacy

Your personal photos, client images, screenshots, documents, graphics, and sensitive files can be converted without being sent to our servers when you use browser-based tools.

No upload wait

Because supported tools process locally, your image does not have to travel to a server before processing begins. This can make common image tasks feel faster and simpler.

No server-side image storage for browser-based tools

If we do not receive your image, we cannot store it, inspect it, leak it, sell it, or recover it later. Your original files and downloaded output files remain under your control on your own device.

Better on slow connections

Once the tool page has loaded, browser-based image processing can happen locally without sending the image across the internet. Your own device, browser, memory, and file size still affect performance.

No unnecessary accounts

The core image converter tools are designed to be free and simple to use without requiring a user account.

What this promise covers

This promise covers the image files you choose inside ImageConverter.ca browser-based image tools. For those tools, selected image files are processed locally in your browser and are not uploaded to our servers for processing.

This includes common browser-based image tasks such as supported format conversion, resizing, optimization, cropping, rotation, and related file adjustments where the tool is designed to run locally.

What this promise does not cover

Like most websites, ImageConverter.ca may still load normal website files and resources needed to operate the site. This can include scripts, stylesheets, fonts, security features, analytics, ads, and other page resources.

Those normal website resources are separate from the image files you choose inside the tools. Advertising or analytics providers, if used, do not receive your image files from ImageConverter.ca through browser-based image processing.

If we introduce a future tool that requires backend processing, cloud processing, API access, file storage, paid accounts, or server-side handling, we will aim to make that clear and limit file handling to what is reasonably needed to provide that specific feature.

Free access

ImageConverter.ca is designed as a free, ad-supported image converter website. Ads or affiliate links, if used, help support the cost of operating the website.

Ads and affiliate links should not change how the core image converter tools work. They also should not give advertisers access to your selected image files through browser-based processing.

Clear, simple tools

The goal is to make ImageConverter.ca easy to understand. Choose your image, pick the output format or setting, run the tool, and download the finished file.

We aim to keep the tools practical, fast, and focused on common image tasks without unnecessary complexity.

Built in Canada

ImageConverter.ca is operated from Ontario, Canada. The site is built to be simple, useful, and privacy-focused: free image tools that do the job without asking you to hand over your files unnecessarily.

That is the promise: where browser-based processing is supported, your images stay with you.
