TGA
What Is A TGA File?
A TGA file, also called Truevision TGA or TARGA, is a raster image format that has been used in graphics, video, texture, and game asset workflows. TGA can store high-quality image data and may support an alpha channel for transparency. It is still found in older asset libraries and some production pipelines, but it is not a convenient format for normal sharing, websites, or upload forms. Converting TGA to PNG, JPG, or WebP makes the image easier to preview and use.
Best For
Legacy graphics, texture files, game assets, video workflows, and older production pipelines.
Watch Out For
TGA is not widely used for modern web uploads, office files, or everyday image sharing.
